Competition Robotics as a Realm of Innovation and Activity
The realm of competitions in robotics is extremely diverse. It is multifarious in
the sense that there are so many fields where robotics can find ample implementation. Robotics is no more something
that has been lifted up from the pages of science fictions. We have already appreciated that robotics is a very
practical solution to the problems of modern day complicated urban life. Moreover, many novel things are yet to be
done or found out in this exciting scientific turf. By raising the morale of the analysts and researchers,
competition robotics is perchance a desperate way to innovate. The sponsorship, scholarship, inspiration,
publicity, prizes, and prestige involved in these sorts of high tech contests are expanding the extent of robotics
itself.
One of the most celebrated challenges in this segment of competitions is the DARPA
Grand Challenged. It provides us with a spectacular exhibition of robotic applications and machines. The
competition is held in the U.S.A. The European Land Robot Trial is another technological gala that has embarked on
the task of augmenting robotics across Europe. The OFF Road Robotics Competition is arranged in Finland, which is
another illustrious event.
Moreover, the Centennial Challenges are held under the auspices of NASA in
America. It provides ample platform to quality researches in the field. If we look ahead, we find that the IARRC is
round the corner in the year 2010. It is certainly going to be an event of grandeur catering to the needs of
defining new supra national standards in robotics. The arena of the competition robotics thus appears to be ever
expanding in the wake of the twenty first century. We are eagerly looking forward to hit upon new things and
cultivate Artificial Intelligence worldwide.
There are certain competitions for examining the automated ground vehicles in
special indoor settings. The Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition is perhaps the most celebrated and challenging
among them. The RoboGames events are also enjoyed and admired. The competitions arranged by the BEST Robotics are
of high standard and industry oriented. In Turkey, International METU Robotics Days are vividly eventful and
challenging. The strict patron of international IT standards, the IEEE also conducts a super specialty contest
known as the IEEE Micromouse Competition. Further, in the sphere of competition robotics, there are competitions
for robotic vehicles that operate underwater.
The International Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Competition is one of the most
celebrated ones. The famous Marine Academy also arranges such competitions to find out new talents in the field.
Robotic vehicles are being rapidly incorporated in the sphere of aerial transportation too. The contests like those
of International Arial Robotics Competition and UAV Outback Challenge cater to the same.
The Micro Air Vehicle Event is also a pioneering attempt to innovate super
specialty aerial transport. The futuristic micro robots illustrate that we still have to go a long way in this
field of scientific enquiry. Indubitably, the establishments like NASA, Stanford University, Massachusetts
Institute of Technology, etc. have contributed incalculably in the field of competition robotics. Countries like
Japan, Germany, USA, UK, Russia, etc. have a proven record of accomplishment in the sphere of robotics and
AI.
